Sometimes an element from nature, a Celtic motif, a botanical illustration, or a lively melody is the spark that sets everything in motion. Luuk Lenders uses this as a starting point to then dive fully into the paper and bring a fantastic world to life.
He experiments freely with traditional and organic materials. From drawing pens and crayons to watercolor pencils, drops of ink, and stray tea bags. With these, Luuk creates a fabulous spectacle full of layered stories and hidden details, populated by magical monks, violin-playing trees, industrious egg bakers, and dancing birds.
Luuk does not just make drawings; he is also a musician and writer, which is immediately reflected in his work. Lines, sounds, and words flow seamlessly into one another. Words become ragged cloud fragments. His play of colors tinkles, flutters, drums, and whistles.
His works are, each and every one, an open invitation to look, to slow down, to marvel, and to enjoy!

Getekend tijdens een retraite in Elverum, Noorwegen. Een houten huis omringd door prachtige bossen. -20 graden. Sneeuw, ijs, stilte.
